Our Purpose

Southern Oregon Family Farms Cooperative (SOFF) promotes and advocates for the small family farm. In the traditional model, the trend is to go for the highest THC for the least amount of money. However, the small family farm is being pushed out because of this model. We want to ensure that the small farmer continues to have a voice in the industry and holds a market share within the larger cannabis markets by maintaining shelf space in dispensaries.

SOFF is an Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission (OLCC) cooperative that strives to save the dream of operating small cannabis enterprises within the state. We’re achieving this goal by sharing a direct distribution network with our members. We empower our members by exchanging resources, best practices, expertise, and legal lessons. The results of structured cooperation ensure the efficiency of operations by minimizing costs and achieving economies of scale.

Membership starts with a list of pre-qualifications and ends with a quality review voted on by either the board of directors and/or member farms, ensuring compassion and understanding. SOFF members anticipate the need to shift focus as the offerings of the cooperative continue to evolve.

Investor Opportunities

As is with every organization, it takes money to make money. Let’s face it — money greases the wheels. The more liquidity an organization has, the more creative potential the organization possesses. Right now, growers are just trying to survive. However, there will be a day when interstate commerce becomes permitted, and states will be allowed to export their goods legally. This will usher in a golden era for the Southern Oregon cannabis industry.

Only a few regions in the United States allow growers to grow the highest quality cannabis with minimal resources. While the rest of the United States increases its infrastructure to grow cannabis indoors during prohibition, once legalization has taken place outdoors, the industry will reign supreme. But Southern Oregon must be prepared to make the transition.

We are currently in a dark period where the consumer is being misguided regarding what defines quality, and sustainability is not even a consideration. So we must educate the consumer. Even after interstate commerce is permitted, barriers to entry will continue to be high. We must invest in the states where we want to export; we need to obtain licensing and secure distribution channels. This endeavor alone will be resource-intensive, let alone the infrastructure it will require.

Oregon dispensaries will get to know SOFF’s farm owners through our brands and by purchasing our flower. This will grow awareness of the cooperative across the United States. Along with selling our farm-owner craft cannabis flower, we intend to create our own lines of value-added products (i.e., vape cartridges, extracts).
